The department of Chemistry, established in the Faculty of Science and Letters of Amasya University upon the no. 2002/4210 Cabinet decree published in the Official Gazzette no. 24792 on 21 June 2002, started education with compulsory Preparation Class education during the academic year 2009-2010 in order to educate the students with primary concepts of chemistry and to train chemists who have creative and innovative researcher identity and who will make national and international innovations. 
Qualification Aawarded
 The students who successfully pass all the courses in the undergraduate program of the department and who have at least 2.00 success grade out of 4.00 (240 ECTS in total) are awarded with an “undergraduate degree” in Chemistry. They are awarded with an “undergraduate diploma” in Chemistry and the title “Chemist”

1- High school and equivalent school diploma

 2- Sufficient score from examinations (YGS-LYS) specified by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Recognation Of Prior Learning
 For the courses that the students took and passed in another higher education institution in Turkey or abroad, if the students apply within the first week after registration, their credit and grade transfer requests will be assessed by the Board of the department. The student will be exempt from the courses approved by the Board. 
Qualifications Requirements And Regulations
Having passed from the courses taken during the undergraduate program with a grade of at least CC and 2.00 out of 4.00. 
Profile Of The Programme
The primary objective of the department is to train chemists who have knowledge about chemistry and related fields, who can apply and share their theoretical and practical knowledge, background and experience in chemistry sector and who can make national and international researches.

Graduation Requirements
 The students who successfully complete all the courses in the program (240 ECTS in total) and who have 2.00 grade point average out of 4.00 can graduate. 
Occupational Profiles Of Graduates
The graduates of this department can work in the research/development laboratories of various institutions of medicine, textile, ceramics, food, cosmetics and automotive; in modern analysis and quality control laboratories or they can be researchers in their field.
Access To Further Studies

The students who successfully complete their undergraduate education can have postgraduate education in their own field or related fields on condition that they get sufficient score in ALES or equivalent examinations and they have sufficient knowledge of foreign language.

Departmental Facilities

The department of chemistry has 3 research laboratories, 3 education laboratories, 2 classes and 1 seminar hall for research and education. The department also has FT-IR, UV-VIS, magnetic sensing scale (gouy scale), microwave synthesis system and basic laboratory equipment for undergraduate education and research.
